The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has issued a statement in response to the recent tragic incidents that occurred in Plateau State on Christmas Eve.
The apex Christian body expressed its condolences to the families, friends, and communities affected by the horrifying events in Ruku, Hurum, Darwat, Mai Yanga Sabo, NTV, and Lisham Kwahasnat community in Wase Local Government Area.
In the statement signed by Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN President, the organization stood in solidarity with the victims during this time of sorrow.

Okoh conveyed heartfelt prayers for comfort and strength to those mourning the loss of their loved ones, including members of the Baptist Church in Chirang village.
CAN strongly denounced the violence, describing it as an assault on the values of peace, unity, and mutual respect that are fundamental to society.
The organization condemned the burning of houses and places of worship, as well as the destruction of property worth millions of naira, emphasizing that such acts have no place in a peaceful society.
While acknowledging the swift intervention of the Military and the joint police and military task force to restore peace, CAN urged security agencies to intensify their efforts in intelligence gathering and proactive measures to prevent similar acts in the future.
The organization commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his efforts to promote peace and unity in the face of adversity.
In a call for national unity and resilience, CAN emphasized the need to reject violence and embrace peace.
The organization urged individuals to remember the victims and their families in prayers and practical support, highlighting the importance of empathy and solidarity in building a peaceful and prosperous Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.
