The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to take decisive actions in curbing corruption and abuse of office among ministers and civil servants, emphasizing the need for ethical leadership to benefit the masses.
In an open letter dated January 8 and released in Lagos on Monday, the CNPP commended Tinubu’s New Year message and highlighted the public’s response to his promises.
The letter, titled “Reduce Corruption in Your Administration,” was signed by Oloye Adegboyega-Adeniji, the Secretary General of South-West CNPP.
Adegboyega-Adeniji reminded Tinubu of his history as a veteran activist and opposition leader, referencing his role during General Ibrahim Babangida’s transition era and the annulled June 12, 1993, general elections.
The letter urged Tinubu not to forget the years of struggle and to uphold the ideals of democracy.
The CNPP official advised the President to lead by example in the fight against corruption, urging him to ensure that civil and public servants implicated in corrupt practices step aside from their positions pending the outcomes of investigations.
The CNPP’s call for ethical governance and accountability reflects growing concerns over corruption in Nigeria’s public sector.
Tinubu’s response to these recommendations could have significant implications for his administration’s approach to combating corruption and promoting transparency in government affairs.
