The Code of Conduct Tribunal in its Thursday February 28, 2014 session has revoked the bench warrant issued on the 24th of November, 2013 against six Development Area Sole Administrations in Adamawa State for failure to appear before the tribunal sitting.
The Local Government Sole Administrations whose warrants were revoked include: Sule Duhu for Shuwa Development Area; Ahmed Yero for Nassarawa-Jereng Development Area and Ahmed G. Aliyu for Gaya/Garaha Development Area. Others were – Kawunyara for Yola West State Development Area; Dennis A. Kkaba for Bidoma Development Area and Irimiya Levi for Borrong Development Area.
The defending Counsels led by Shotekare earlier prayed for the revocation of the bench warrants instituted by the court against his clients on the 24th of November, 2013 saying the accused later appeared in wretched condition after the court has dismissed for the day.
He explained that the accused sustained different degrees of injuries arising from armed robbery attack in Bauchi State and produced a Police extract from the jurisdiction of the incidence to back his claims.
While granting the prayers, the Chairman of the Tribunal, Danladi Umar Yakubu (Justice) alongside two members of the tribunal – Atedze Williams Agwadza and Robert Udo (Justices) warned that the accused must always oblige whenever the tribunal demands for them to enable expeditious dealing on their case.
‘‘This tribunal has hereby revoked the bench warrant against the six sole administrators from Adamawa State instituted on the 24th of November, 2013,” he announced. The case was adjourned till May 27, 2014 for hearing on the motion filed by the defense counsel on the jurisdiction of the tribunal in the matter.
