A Federal High Court has rejected a request by Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo to temporarily halt the impeachment process initiated against him by the Kano State House of Assembly.
Delivering the ruling on March 25, 2026, Justice S. M. Shaibu held that the deputy governor failed to meet the legal requirements necessary for the court to grant the urgent order, which was sought without hearing from the other parties involved.

The court also directed Gwarzo to serve all relevant legal documents on the respondents to enable them to respond appropriately to the suit.
Meanwhile, the Kano State House of Assembly had earlier secured its own interim court order on March 11, 2026, restraining the deputy governor from taking any action capable of interfering with the Assembly’s constitutional duties, particularly under Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
