Cross River State PDP Zoning Committee Member Must Perform Critical Thinking

While I commend the leadership of the PDP for setting up a zoning committee for the forthcoming congresses in Cross River State, those that have been charged with this daunting task must carry out critical analytical reason.

Those charged with the responsibility of zoning positions across the State must look critically, they must understand that zoning most times is used to unite diverse groups, it is used to win the minds of the people, it is also a means of creating stability within a group or an organization. And so, the members of the PDP zoning committee must carry out the task given to them devoid of sentiment, senatorial district or friendship. They must understand that it is an opportunity to balance power across the state, and any attempt to go contrary to the principles of zoning is going to tear the party apart, cause disaffection, rancor, and alienation within the ranks and files of the party and within groups who feel marginalised and cheated or ill treated.

The members of the committee must zone key positions to were the party is lacking with the idea of winning the minds of the people. They must zone key positions to areas where they know has smart, intelligent, vibrant and dogged party men and women and not zoning a position to favor a particular interest group.

The committee must distribute positions equitably, show transparency, honesty and sincerity. Let is also be known that those to represent the party in each region must be scholarly and not just zoning for zoning sake.

It is also important that very vital positions are given to the youths of the party. It is on record that the PDP has youths that can serve as the party’s think tanks and strategist. It is important that positions are zoned to accommodate them. They are youths in the PDP that have distinguished themselves to have the capacity, energy, intelligents and vibrancy to lead. They should be encouraged in order to balance the party.

Also, the women must be carried along. Women win sympathy votes. They have a way of winning the hearts of the people. I will suggest that intelligent women be carried along in key positions in the party’s leadership.

I am optimistic that the members of the committee are men and women of impeccable character and are ready to revive the party with the task on their shoulders.
