Senator David Mark, the former Senate President of Nigeria, has called on Nigerians not to write-off the efforts being made by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to reposition the country.

Mark, in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Mr Paul Mumeh and issued in Abuja yesterday, said “We must at all times support constituted authorities as that is the only way to promote democracy, good governance, and development”.

“This period calls for sober reflection and a resolve to support the efforts of government to overcome the challenges,” Mark said.

He noted that the current security, economic, and socio-political challenges currently being faced in the country could be overcome. The statement, therefore, urged Nigerians not to allow political differences to affect the national interest, saying: “all hands must be on deck to protect the country.

“We must remember that the interest and welfare of citizens remain the ultimate goal of government.”

Senator Mark called on both Christians and Muslims to embrace one another in the spirit of the Christmas season.

“Christians and Muslims should imbibe the true teachings of Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad,” he said.
