Former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, David Umahi, has unequivocally stated that he harbors no regrets for selecting Governor Francis Nwifuru as his successor.
Umahi made this declaration during a stakeholder address at a dinner organized by Governor Nwifuru, honoring former executive council members of the state at the old Government House in Abakaliki.
Reflecting on his tenure, Umahi asserted that he left the Government House meticulously and without oversight.

He acknowledged the adversaries he gained during his governance and the efforts invested in securing Nwifuru as his successor for the 2023 general election.
Umahi assured that no National Assembly member from the state would oppose Nwifuru, emphasizing that any attempt to do so would result in suspension.
He emphasized that it is now his time to reap what he sowed and cautioned the governor to be wary of certain individuals.
During his remarks, Umahi indicated, “We will know those who are APC during the coming election.”
In response, Governor Nwifuru praised Umahi for his significant contributions to the development of a modern Ebonyi State.
He emphatically declared that no one could come between him and the former governor, stating, “Our enemies must go to work, but the devil is a liar.”
