The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has called on the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) to provide clarity and transparency regarding its claim of achieving a 143% revenue generation performance.
In a statement issued by the APC’s Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., the party expressed skepticism over the DBIR’s assertion, describing it as a desperate attempt to mask the shortcomings of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
“We find it troubling that the administration continues to boast of inflated figures without any verifiable data or tangible proof to substantiate such claims,” the statement read.

“These claims appear to be political rhetoric aimed at concealing the failings of Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration and the corruption for which the DBIR is notoriously known.”
The APC raised concerns over the lack of transparency, noting that the government has yet to provide a detailed breakdown of the alleged revenue figures or their impact on the lives of Delta residents.
“This has culminated in the investigation of the former governor over allegations of financial impropriety involving 1.3 trillion naira in missing 13% derivation funds,” the statement added.
The party further accused the current administration of perpetuating financial mismanagement and corruption, which it claimed had characterized the Okowa/Oborevwori administrations over the past nine years.
The APC urged the state government to present an itemized account of the supposed 143% revenue performance, detailing how the funds have been utilized to benefit infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job creation.
“The people of Delta State deserve the truth about the state’s revenue generation efforts. Inflated revenue figures without transparency only deepen the public’s mistrust,” Onojeghuo said.
The APC also reiterated its earlier calls for reforms in revenue generation, emphasizing the need to address systemic leakages, improve tax collection efficiency, and ensure a fair and inclusive process.
“Regrettably, the current administration of Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori continues to fall short in these areas, reinforcing the perception of a government more focused on political self-aggrandizement than the economic welfare of Delta State,” the statement concluded.
The APC pledged its commitment to holding the government accountable, advocating for fiscal responsibility, and ensuring that good governance prevails in Delta State.
