PORTLAND, OR–(Marketwired – Mar 10, 2014) –  DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital, a nonprofit 24-hour emergency and intensive care animal hospital in Portland, Ore., is introducing On the Floor @Dove. The online, on-demand training website provides additional learning and professional development courses for veterinary professionals. The website is breaking new ground in the industry, according to several experts, and already has 9,000 members throughout the U.S. and several other countries.

“On the Floor @ Dove provides valuable and value-driven real-world education from thought leaders in veterinary medicine,” said Tony Johnson, DVM, DACVECC, medical director, Veterinary Information Network. “Training for all levels of staff is available and sessions can be taken wherever and whenever. This is not old-school continuing education; this is the new face of education.”

On the Floor @Dove provides 24/7 online access to the collective knowledge of DoveLewis professional staff and features educational content such as high-quality videos of real-time procedures, informational articles and blogs. The comprehensive training platform is designed to help veterinary practices improve patient care, save time and money, and enhance team training and efficiency.

“Through our research, we saw a large gap in the veterinary industry for medical content created by professionals who were actually working in the field,” said Ron Morgan, the CEO of DoveLewis Animal Hospital. “The unique quality of On the Floor @Dove is that we are producing content from real patients with our actual staff. Nothing is staged or scripted, and that is very unique.”

The team began with $10,000 and the objective to take on-demand, emergency-based instruction and veterinary education to the masses. On the Floor @Dove, which has been in beta testing since 2011, has achieved a 98 percent user-satisfaction rate and now has hundreds of videos to appeal to all facets of a veterinary practice.

“On the Floor @Dove is helping change the face of the future of veterinary medicine with an interactive component that many hospitals need,” said Jolene Head, DVM, clinic owner of Keauhou Veterinary Hospital. “It is an in-depth and comprehensive resource that helps us to add one more layer of training for staff — and it’s a good refresher for the rest of us.”

The program offers content for all veterinary professionals, including practice managers, veterinarians, technicians, assistants and receptionists. The extensive library of teaching content is categorized by professional role or service, allowing courses to be tailored to the specialty and skill level of each staff member. New content is added weekly, ensuring that the latest advances and best practices are shared with the veterinary community. On the Floor @Dove’s learning management system also includes the ability to assign quizzes and track individual progress to measure learning.

On the Floor @Dove can be used by educators to supplement traditional classroom and lab learning. By providing up-to-date, real-life scenarios for study, On the Floor @Dove can help prepare students for successful careers in veterinary medicine.

Veterinary practices can sign up for a seven-day free trial at www.atdove.org to explore On the Floor @Dove with no obligation to subscribe.
