Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Rivers State Governorship candidate of the Accord in the 2023 general elections, has withdrawn his appeal at the Supreme Court against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
This decision, as conveyed in his 2024 New Year message to Rivers people, is aimed at reducing tension in the overheated Rivers polity and fostering a peaceful environment in the state.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Nia’bari Fakae, Lulu-Briggs emphasized the significance of his gesture as a contribution to calming the political climate in Rivers State.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by Rivers people in 2023, highlighting the impact on their livelihoods and security.
Expressing concern over the ongoing political crisis in the state, Lulu-Briggs warned of its potential to exacerbate the hardships faced by the populace.
He commended the resilience of Rivers people in resisting undemocratic and unconstitutional practices.
As he extended New Year wishes to the people of Rivers State, Lulu-Briggs urged reflection and called for an end to the political strife.
He appealed to all parties involved to embrace forgiveness, love, and reconciliation, emphasizing the need to prioritize peace and unity for the collective progress of Rivers State in 2024.
