    FMR SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, HON. CHUKWUMA NWAZUNKU

    The Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Monday morning elected its first female Speaker in the person of Hon. Helen Nwaobasi (Abakaliki South State Constituency), following the impeachment of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Nwazunku.

    The member Representing Ezza South State Constituency, Hon. Chris Usulor moved the motion for the impeachment of Nwazunku while the Minority Leader and member Representing Ezza North West State Constituency, Hon. Enyi Enyi seconded the motion.

    The former speaker was impeached by 18 out of 24 members for alleged gross misconduct, incompetence and corruption.

    The motion for the election of the new Speaker was moved by the member Representing Afikpo South West, Hon. Eni Uduma Chima and seconded by the member Representing Ohaozara West, Hon. Jerry Obasi.
