Civil servants in Ebonyi State under the state government’s payroll are set to receive N150,000 each as a 2024 Christmas bonus, Governor Francis Nwifuru has announced.
The governor made the announcement during a banquet held in honor of the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gill Lever, at the Government House in Abakaliki.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, the gesture is to appreciate the workers’ dedication to duty and their understanding during the recent Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) strike.
“Our workers have shown a lot of commitment and respect to us as a government,” Nwifuru said. “During the strike action, they heeded our appeal because they understood the situation of things, and we are most grateful and ready to always dialogue on how to improve their welfare.”
The governor directed that the bonus be disbursed to every worker before the close of work on Tuesday next week.
