Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four individuals in connection with the alleged theft of a Toyota Highlander at gunpoint.
The Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, disclosed this to journalists on Friday in Benin City.
The suspects, identified as Ifeanyi Okpara (26), Dennis Okosun (25), and Edwin Iruogbe (27), reportedly carried out the carjacking in Ekpoma, Edo State, using a motorcycle to ambush the vehicle’s owner.

The stolen SUV, a Toyota Highlander with registration number RBC 66 AQ, was taken from the victim, Iwologbe Raphael, at gunpoint on August 23, 2024.
Following the theft, Raphael, a resident of Judges Quarters, Ekpoma, reported the incident to the police at around 8:30 pm.
Acting on the report, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command launched a tech-driven investigation, which led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of the suspects.
The fourth suspect, Shehu Ismail (25), was apprehended after purchasing the stolen SUV for N1.5 million from the carjackers.
In addition to the recovered vehicle, police also found a locally made pistol and two live cartridges in possession of the suspects. All four suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Commissioner Edwin-Iwo confirmed that the suspects will soon face prosecution in court.
