Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will continue to evolve strategies towards actualizing the free and qualitative education programme of the State government through increased funding. In this wise, the Ministry is proposing to spend the sum of N7.6b in the next fiscal year.
Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Barrister Segun Odubela made disclosure in Abeokuta while defending its budget before members of the State House of Assembly in Abeokuta.
Giving a breakdown of the figure, Odubela said the sum of N6.5b would be expended on capital projects, while recurrent matters would gulp N1.1b, adding that the Ministry was expecting to generate N307m revenue during the same period.
In his further breakdown of recurrent expenditure analysis, Odubela said overhead costs would gulp N528m, just as N600m would be spent on personnel matters.
In the same vein, he said capital projects tracked for the coming year include the payment of WAEC/NECO and JSSIII examinations as well as conduct of unified examinations for all secondary school students, rehabilitation of some public secondary schools and completion of 15 model schools across the State.
Meanwhile, The Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) says it intends to spend the sum of N18.252b in the next year fiscal year.
The Commission’s Chairman, Ms. Olubukunola Onabanjo who said the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff would continue to be given attention gave the breakdown as N18.152b as expected recurrent expenditure, while N100m would be expended on capital projects.
On expected revenue for the in coming year, Ms. Onabanjo revealed that TESCOM expects to generate N3m.
