Ekiti State Government has distributed 9 Ambulances and 20 Motorcycles for use in primary health facilities in 4 Local Governments Areas in the state under its Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Programme. Presenting the vehicles to the Chairman of the benefitting councils at a ceremony in Ado-Ekiti ,the Chairman of the State Implementation Committee of the MDGs, Chief Dipo Anisulowo represented by the State Secretary of the Office of the MDGs ,Mr James Owolabi said the gesture was part of efforts of the state government to improve health care service delivery in the state.
He explained that the newly procured facilities would assist in carrying out referral cases and responding to emergencies with a view to saving lives and reducing mortality rate in the benefitting Councils.
Anisulowo who is also the Chief of Staff to the Ekiti State Governor charged the beneficiaries not to misuse the equipment. He urged them to inculcate maintenance culture in order to enhance the durability of the newly acquired vehicles.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Yemi Owoseni described the gesture as a demonstration of the commitment of the present administration to make lives better for the people of the state.
Responding, the Caretaker Chairman of Efon Local Government Mr. Peter Daramola commended the State Government for the gesture stressing that it would improve health care delivery in the four benefitting Councils.
The 4 benefitting councils are Efon, Ekiti West, Oye and Ekiti South West.
