Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on the Nigeria Labour Congress in Ekiti to set a standard for the Society in conducting a credible elections.
Speaking at the 5th Delegates Conference of NLC in Ado-Ekiti, the governor advised contestants and delegates to ensure that the election was devoid of rancor, saying the society was watching them.
Fayose used the opportunity to re-affirm his commitment to the workforce in the state, promising to consider salaries of the workers a priority.
The governor expressed his readiness to express the olive branch in the state to allow for peace and conducive environment for the common people to thrive.
Speaking, representative of the Minister of Labour, Mr Olayanju Omoniyi charged the labour Union to ensure that laid down procedures for active service delivery are maintained always.
President of NLC who spoke through the General Secretary of Construction Union, Com Babatunde Liadi asked the Congress to ensure election was free and fair, calling on winners to consolidate on the achievements of the outgoing executive members.
Ekiti State NLC Chairman who was represented by Com Akintunde Aluko commended the State government for coming to the aid of the labour at a critical time. He charged contestants to embrace spirit of sportsmanship.
Several goodwill messages were delivered from the State Head of Service, Dr Gbenga Faseluka and other stakeholders at the congress.
