Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has reiterated his commitment to the welfare of workers in the state, stressing that their salaries remain the priority of his administration.
In a State wide broadcast over the allocations that accrue to the state for the month of March, the governor noted that though there was a shortfall, salaries of workers remain sacrosanct.
The governor noted that Federal allocation for the month of March was 2.511 billion naira while the Internally Generated Revenue was 300 million naira, totaling 2.811 billion naira.
Workers salaries for the month according to the governor stood at about 1.413 billion naira while subvention to higher Institutions, pension, security allowances and others came to about a billion naira, making the total expenditure about 2.412 billion naira leaving the State with about N400million.
The Governor however noted that with bills such as Child health care, diesels for street lights and government house as well as other important petty expenditures the money needed was put at N3.083billion while total revenue was N2.811bn, the State is having a shortfall of about N271million for the month of March .
At the Local Government, the total allocation was 1.777 while expenditures such as teachers’ salary, Local Govt workers’ salary, Palace Staff and royal fathers’ salary as well as royal fathers’ cars deduction was more than the revenue leaving the Local governments with a shortfall of about N175million for the month of march.
The governor however assured that with the help of God, the state will soon overcome the current economic challenges.
