Tesla CEO Elon Musk has claimed that former U.S. President Donald Trump would have lost the 2024 presidential election without his support.
Musk made the assertion in a post shared on Thursday via his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), intensifying an ongoing rift between him and Trump.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” Musk wrote, before adding, “Such ingratitude.”

The tech billionaire, 53, reportedly spent millions backing Trump’s 2024 re-election campaign and was seen alongside the Republican candidate during the final weeks of the race.
Following Trump’s victory, Musk was appointed head of the newly created United States Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
His recent statement follows a wave of posts on X in which he criticized Trump’s legislative push, urging Congress to block the so-called “big, beautiful bill” backed by the former president.
The remarks signal deepening tension between the two allies-turned-rivals, despite Musk’s previously vocal support.
