Mr. Dele Akinleye, a former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Political Matters to the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, late Abiola Ajimobi, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship race in the state.
Our correspondent gathered that the APC state congress has been slated to hold on Saturday.
State executive members of the party are expected to be elected on that day.
InfoStride News recalls that four chieftains of the party had earlier indicated interest to contest the chairmanship position in the state.
The four people are from Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of the state. They included Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, Ajiboye Omodewu and two others.
InfoStride News, however, gathered that Akinleye, an indigene of Ipapo in Itesiwaju local government area in Oke Ogun geopolitical zone has also joined the contest.
Our correspondent gathered that Akinleye had served as Personal Assistant to Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Iyiola Oladokun from 1999 to 2003.
He had also served as Secretary, Alliance for Democracy AD Secretary in Saki West local government area.
Our correspondent learnt that with this development, five chairmanship candidates are going to slog it out among themselves to canvass votes from the electorate on Saturday.
InfoStride News gathered that anyone who emerges as Chairman, will succeed the outgoing Chairman of the party, Chief Akintola Oke.
InfoStride News findings on Monday, revealed that the contest appears to be between Akinleye and Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi.
It was gathered that elders of the party and youths are comfortable with Akinleye because of his youthful age.
