Kenneth Gbagi, a former Nigerian Minister of Education and 2023 governorship candidate, has passed away at the age of 62. His death was confirmed on Saturday in a statement by his eldest son, Emuoboh Gbagi.
“It is with profound sadness but gratitude to God that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother, Orogun Kenneth Omemavwa Gbagi, former Minister of Education,” the statement read.
Gbagi, who was the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last election in Delta State, passed away on May 4, 2024.

The statement requested thoughts and prayers for the family during this challenging time of loss and expressed gratitude for the memories, achievements, and impact Gbagi made on countless individuals and communities.
Gbagi’s political journey included an unsuccessful bid for the governorship of Delta State in 2023, where he lost to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). May his soul rest in perfect peace.
