National Convention: Modu-Sheriff Denies Sponsoring Ikimi For APC Chair

25011N.-Ali-Modu-SherrifErstwhile Governor of Borno State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff, has denied a media report that he is sponsoring the candidature of a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi, as the chairman of the party during the APC national convention slated for 13th June in Abuja.

A national newspaper had claimed that Modu-Sheriff was sponsoring Ikimi for the APC chair, but in his reaction on Monday, the ex-governor denied the report, describing it as baseless and unfounded.

“The story is not true. As one of the elders of the party, I am waiting to see how the zoning will go before I know what to do. I am not going to jump the gun. The report is mischievous and it is being promoted by disgruntled and mischievous persons. I, therefore, urge our teeming party members and the public to disregard it”, he said.
