Super Falcons have claimed 100% ignorance to the Thursday, February 12 resumption date for the upcoming All Africa Games (AAG) and Olympics qualifiers.
.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) Director General, Gbenga Elegbeleye had directed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to open camp on the said date for the African champions to commence preparations for the upcoming AAG, Olympic and World Cup assignments in March, May and June respectively.
.
The InfoStride findings on Thursday, February 12 showed that none of the Falcons coaches and players is aware of the resumption date as ordered by the NSC top shot.
.
“I’m about rounding up training with my club players as we speak (Thursday), I’m not anywhere near Abuja for the purported resumption for Super Falcons.
.
“I heard and read the resumption date on pages of newspapers nobody has formally contacted me, other coaches or players in respect of the February 12 resumption date.
.
“I’ve made calls across but nobody claimed to have been contacted so I don’t know who is fooling who.
.
“The All Africa Games qualifier is around the corner rather we’ve chosen to play politics with it as if other countries will just withdraw for us to stroll and pick the ticket,” said the unnamed source to supersport.com.
.
A key player of the side who will not want to be named said she is just hearing the resumption date as we speak as nobody has mentioned it to her hearing.
.
“You’re just telling me about the resumption date I never heard about it and sure none of my teammates is aware of the date.
.
“At least we meet almost on daily basis at training in our clubs so if there is anything like that we would’ve known or our coaches would’ve called to inform us.
.
“We’re not happy with the delay to open camp just few weeks to the commencement of the qualifiers for All Africa Games cum Olympics.
.
“Other countries are in camp and playing top grade friendly matches and here we’re in our respective homes unsure when the camp will open.
.
“The same people who made it practically impossible for us to start camp early will be handy to roundly criticize us if the outcome turned bad,” laments the unnamed player to supersport.com.
.
The 2015 AAG will hold in Congo Brazzaville while DR Congo will host the 2016 pre-Olympic championship, Falcons did not qualify for both finals in the last editions.
.
The reigning African champions will campaign in Group D together with former champions, USA, Sweden and Australia at the upcoming 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.
