The aggrieved Deputy Governor-Elect, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke has been urged to accept his new status in the interest of the people of the state.
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State and former Senatorial candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Mr. Adewale Abel, made the appeal in Lokoja in an interview.
He stated that it would be unforgivable if Okun, Faleke’s hometown, lose out in the ongoing political scheming going on in the state.
Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives and running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu, had rejected the candidacy of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, whom the APC fielded as Audu’s replacement and eventually became the state’s Governor-elect.
He insisted he was the right replacement to the late politician.
In reaction to Faleke’s position, Abel said it is time for him to sheath his sword and accept the new power shift.
“I quite understand the position of my brother, Hon. James Faleke but he must stop fighting now and embrace the new power structure in the state.
“It is inappropriate to fight his party, the party that made him politically. He should think of the Okun interest before we lose out to the Igalas because I am aware a lot of politicking is going on”.
