Lighitlubang village in Bungha District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, is in mourning following the gruesome killing of a family of five by suspected gunmen.
The victims, identified as a man, his wife, their child, and another couple, were reportedly slaughtered during the attack, which has heightened tension in the area.
According to sources, the assailants extended their onslaught to other parts of the local government, leaving residents in fear.
A local source told The Guardian: “From Monday, January 27, till this Saturday, February 1, no fewer than 10 people have been cruelly murdered by the same suspected militia.
It was confirmed by the police who witnessed the attacks in Mangu.”
Residents have called for urgent security intervention to prevent further bloodshed.
Efforts to reach the Plateau State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
