Furtherance to his promise to boost security in the state and secure lives and property of the Ekiti State citizenry, Governor Ayodele Fayose has announced plans to launch a Security Trust Fund (STF).
Chairman of the Trust Fund, Chief Bisi Omoyeni, said in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday that some corporate organisations were already contributing to the fund that would be launched this month.
Omoyeni, a former deputy governor of the state, said 20 Toyota Hilux vans equipped with modern security gadgets; Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and sundry security equipment had already been donated by some banks.
According to the ex-deputy governor, January 21 had already been picked as a tentative date for the launch. “The STF was set up to provide logistics for security agencies in the state and Governor Fayose will do everything humanly possible to make Ekiti a crime-free state”, he said.
Omoyeni added: “The governor will always support the Police and other security agencies in tackling security challenges in the state”.
He, therefore, called on corporate organisations and individuals to support the STF, adding that “a crime-free Ekiti State will guarantee rapid and sustainable development”.
