    FCO Minister leads British trade delegation to Egypt

    LONDON, United-Kingdom, January 12, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Minister for Middle East leads British trade delegation, with companies from energy, construction and retail sectors, to Egypt.

    On Monday 12th January, British Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Tobias Ellwood will arrive in Cairo to boost trade and increase British investment in Egypt.

    Mr Ellwood will be accompanied by over 40 leading British companies from the energy, construction, and retail sectors looking to do business in Egypt.

    Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood said:

    “This significant trade mission underlines Britain’s commitment to helping the Egyptian people build a successful future for their country – an Egypt that is more secure, more democratic, and more inclusive. Key to this future is a dynamic economy that creates jobs and opportunities for all.

    “As the number one investor in Egypt, Egypt does not have a more important economic partner than Britain. In the last fiscal year, British investment totalled over $5bn, more than investment from all other countries put together.

    “Britain stands ready to support Egypt implement economic reforms both to help make a more attractive environment for business and investment as well as making sure that economic growth benefits all Egyptians and meets their real and pressing demands for social justice. Together, these reforms will mean Egypt can build a strong, dynamic economy that creates jobs and lifts people out of poverty.”

    Mr Ellwood and the trade mission have a 3-day programme of activities. On Tuesday 13 January, UK Trade and Investment and the British-Egyptian Business Association will co-host a conference on doing business in Egypt, which Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb is expected to attend.
