The well-known COVID-19 market in Area 11, Abuja is scheduled to be demolished after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, gave the order.
This information was provided by Osi Braimah, Director of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), while addressing with journalists during the destruction of shanty stores that had been established in the market.
“The elimination of shanties and illegal colonies in Area 11 and certain other parts of the city is intended to alleviate the unrelenting sense of fear that inhabitants are confronted with on a daily basis.

“This is an ongoing exercise by various agencies of the FCT; the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has given a marching order to the AEPB to scale up demolition of all shanties, illegal settlements, and squatter camps in the FCT.”
