The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, approved the procurement of 33 Mikano CNG-powered vehicles at the cost of N1.99 billion to enhance the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The approval was announced by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, during a press briefing at the end of the meeting.
“The procurement of 33 Mikano motor vehicles, CNG-powered, is to boost the operation of NDLEA. The council considered and approved it,” Fagbemi stated.

In addition, the minister disclosed that the council approved the procurement of firearms and ammunition to strengthen the counter-narcotic fight, amounting to $1.442 billion.
Fagbemi also revealed the procurement of two body scanners to be deployed for use in Abuja and at the international airport, at a cost of N985 million.
These measures are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance national security and bolster the capabilities of law enforcement agencies.
