(State House News) – At the fortnightly meeting of the Federal Executive Council which held in the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Asokoro, Abuja on Wednesday March 12, 2014 members were informed about the inauguration ceremony of the National Conference activities scheduled to hold at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja on March 17, 2014.
While briefing State House correspondents after the Council Meeting, the Information Minister, Labaran Maku told reporters about the date and venue of the inauguration; adding that the Council did frowned at the alleged brutality against a Nigerian by the South African Police.
He opined that if what he saw on Channels Television showing the brutality is true, such treatment of a Nigerian by the South African authorities was unwarranted and condemnable, given the immense support from Nigeria to South Africa back in the anti-apartheid struggle.
The Information Minister promised that an investigation of the incident would be carried out, saying the President has directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
In another development, Labaran Maku revealed that the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu expressed appreciation to the President on behalf of Ndi-Igbo on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony of the 2nd Niger Bridge which took place on Monday March 10, 2014 in Onitsha, Anambra State.
According to Maku, the event was symbolic, historic and epoch-making as the bridge would link the South-East geo-political zone with the rest of the country as well as promote trade and other economic activities.
