Making them seem a lot worse is Javier Hernandez. Sold to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, the Mexican striker has scored 15 times in his last 12 games.
Now, he’s rubbing salt into the wound of United boss Louis van Gaal.
Hernandez has opened up on the reasons behind his transfer to Leverkusen, claiming van Gaal had told him there would only be a “one per cent chance of playing” at Old Trafford.
The Dutch manager has since been forced to rely heavily on a host of youngsters up front, including 20-year-old Anthony Martial.

“Van Gaal told me he already had his strikers, that I would have to fight for a place but could take an offer if an opportunity arrives,” Hernandez said.
“The board told me I could go on loan to Real Madrid and it was not a difficult decision for me. Then I returned to Manchester.
“I started to have opportunities but one day I spoke with Van Gaal and I had only a one per cent chance of playing, so I needed to make magic.
“I moved to Bayer, I have been confident since the first day and I feel more important here, not only for the goals but in all the games I watch I see myself in the line-up.”
However, van Gaal’s men narrowly evaded the angry mob by being escorted straight to the tarmac by the team bus.
The 2-1 loss to Bournemouth saw United fall six points behind Leicester City in the title race.
