The Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG), Centre for Transparency Advocacy, a civil society coalition, on Saturday, 23rd November, 2013 at the International Conference Centre, unveiled the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) as “The 1st Most Outstanding Public Institution, 2012-2013 for effective and efficient service delivery as voted by Nigerians.”
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) had retained the position in the last two years, when the service delivery report was first presented by ISDMG.
ISDMG explored the benefits of the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act, to scrutinise over 300 public institutions on their service delivery process. After a very competitive voting exercise which generated thousands of votes via SMS, e-mail and questionnaires, Nigerians unanimously endorsed FERMA.
The Award reads: “This Service Delivery Medal of Honour is presented to Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Emerging the 1st Most Outstanding Public Intuition in Nigeria 2012 – 2013, as voted by Nigerians this day November, 23rd, 2013”
Aside the overall winner, FERMA also won under Works, Housing, Federal Mortgage Bank (FMB), and Federal Capital Territory category for effective and efficient service delivery as voted by Nigerians (2012-2013).
The Management of FERMA views this recognition from ISDMG in particular, and Nigerians in general, as a challenge that will spur the Agency to be more committed to the business of effective and efficient road monitoring and maintenance.
