Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, describing the state as an “Asiwaju state.”
Fintiri made the declaration on Monday in Yola during the launch of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement 2027, a campaign initiative aimed at mobilising grassroots support for Tinubu ahead of the next general election.

The governor’s position comes amid the political significance of Adamawa as the home state of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is seeking the presidency under the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Despite Atiku’s political influence in the state, Fintiri expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and called on residents to support the President.
“This is Asiwaju state,” the governor declared.
He said Adamawa would support Tinubu in recognition of what he described as the President’s sacrifices for the country.
Fintiri also defended the Federal Government’s economic reforms, arguing that they had provided state governments with greater capacity to execute development projects.
According to him, responsibility for national development and reducing economic hardship should not rest solely on the Federal Government, as state governments also have a role to play.
“It is not the responsibility of the Federal Government alone to achieve development and reduce hardship. This is a Federation. We in this state will continue to do our part to improve the lives of the people,” he said.
Earlier, the Adamawa State chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hamza Madagali, declared that the state remained firmly behind the ruling party.
Madagali expressed confidence that Tinubu would receive substantial support in Adamawa during the 2027 presidential election.
He claimed that no other presidential candidate would secure up to 25 per cent of the votes in the state.
The launch of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement marked the commencement of the group’s mobilisation activities in Adamawa. The initiative is designed to strengthen grassroots engagement and expand support for Tinubu across communities and local government areas.
The movement’s campaign activities form part of broader efforts by supporters of the President to build political structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
