The Director-General of Oyo State Public Works Department, Engineer Taiwo Akintola has attributed the free flow of traffic in Ibadan and other parts of the State to the massive road rehabilitation, construction of bridges and the Urban Renewal Programme of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s administration.
Akintola, while speaking on the NTA, Ibadan personality interview programme “Ex-ray’’, also said that the good road network in major towns and cities in the State had helped tremendously in resolving the traffic logjam which used to characterize the State.
“If you look at the traffic situation In Oyo State today, you will discover that we have it resolved through the creation of good road network and this is due to the efforts of Governor Abiola Ajimobi as knows what it means to have free flow of traffic,’’ he said.
The Director-General commended the Governor for his determination and commitment towards implementing his vision of bringing rapid development to all the nooks and crannies of the State.
“Thank God we have a Governor who is dedicated enough to that purpose. I salute his courage; he has the political will to ensure that things are done well; he has truly brought his high level of exposure to bear in the running of Oyo State.
“He is a leader who believes in proper planning before embarking on any project in order to record maximum result. He is a man who had the blueprint of what he wanted to do even before he became Governor.
“So what you are seeing today is not an issue of `we came to government, we saw money and we are spending it’. Rather, it is planning that has direction and purpose. We all have seen the newly-constructed Mokola Flyover Bridge; we have seen how effective that simple solution has been to the traffic situation at that point,’’ he said.
Akintola stated that the present administration had dualised various roads in Ibadan, Oyo, Iseyin, Ogbomoso, while works are still going on in other road projects across the State.
