As one of the surviving members of Isaac Adaka Boro’s “Twelve day Revolution” Retired Captain Sam Owunaro clocks 70, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has described him as a true legend, hero and patriot of Bayelsa State, the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta.
In a congratulatory message to Retired Captain Owunaro, the Governor recalled the selflessness, commitment and dedication with which they fought for the oil producing minorities of the Niger Delta to be heard and be given their pride of place in the Nigerian nation.
According to him, the Government and people of Bayelsa State and especially the Ijaw nation will remain ever grateful and appreciative of the sacrifice he made, alongside Late Major Isaac Adaka Boro and others who fought for equity, justice and fair-play for the long neglected and marginalized people of the Niger Delta region.
The Governor noted that, like his departed compatriots, Retired Captain Owunaro will also remain a source of inspiration as well as continue to capture the true essence of the aspirations and the contradictions of the Nigeria nation and the possibilities of the Ijaw people.
The Governor congratulated him on behalf of the government and the people of the State and wished him good health and many happy returns.
