Governor Abdullahi Sule has leveled serious accusations against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, alleging a deliberate attempt to fuel unrest along religious and ethnic lines following a recent Court of Appeal judgment affirming the governor’s electoral victory.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Mr Peter Ahemba, expressed these concerns in a press conference held in Lafia yesterday, highlighting the PDP’s purported orchestration of a protest to discredit and blackmail the judiciary.
Ahemba claimed that the PDP-backed “Coalition of Indigenous People of Nasarawa State” referred to certain citizens as “foreigners” during the protest, asserting that such divisive rhetoric was unprecedented in a region historically known for peaceful coexistence among diverse groups.

Accusing the PDP of persistently pursuing a dangerous path since the electioneering campaigns, Ahemba noted security agencies’ warnings against incitement, stating that the opposition party continued efforts to destabilize the state.
He emphasized, “The recent stage-managed protest against the Appeal Court judgment is a calculated attempt to discredit the courageous, sound, and firm judgment of the Appeal Court and blackmail the nation’s judiciary.”
Ahemba criticized the PDP’s call for international intervention in the state’s affairs, labeling it a desperate move to advance an ethnic agenda.
He urged security agencies to monitor the opposition’s rhetoric, cautioning against potential incitement of hate among citizens.
