In a recent statement, the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, clarified that he has not approved the tenure extension for any retiring Permanent Secretary in the state.
The statement, signed by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and obtained by the media on Saturday, addresses recent reports regarding the alleged elongation of tenure for some service personnel.
Governor Adeleke affirmed his commitment to ongoing civil service reforms aimed at ensuring career progression and service satisfaction for all personnel.

He highlighted that the reforms initiated by his administration have led to the right placement of top officials, resulting in the appointment of substantive Permanent Secretaries who had previously lost hope of reaching the pinnacle of their career.
According to the statement, there is no plan to approve the extension of tenure for any retiring Permanent Secretary, as the Governor is determined to enforce career progression in the state’s public service.
Any previous extensions are part of the ongoing service reforms aimed at entrenching professionalism.
The few exceptions are intended to strengthen the public service, as the reform process is still in its early stages.
Governor Adeleke reassured public servants to continue their normal duties, emphasizing that the administration will not make any decisions that could be detrimental to their career progression and service interests.
