Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has refuted ongoing rumors of a rift between himself and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
Governor Alia expressed his admiration for Akume, whom he described as a national pride and the father of Benue State.
Speaking at a symposium held in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, to commemorate the SGF’s birthday, Governor Alia addressed the speculations directly.

He stated, “I want to unambiguously debunk the circulating rumors of discord between the SGF and myself.
These speculations exist solely in the imaginative realm of opportunists, instigators of turmoil, and merchants of mischief who thrive on chaos.
The said fracas is only a figment of the imagination crafted by those who seek to profit from the crisis.”
Alia further clarified that any reported disunity within their party was being addressed through ongoing discussions aimed at resolving various areas of discontent among members.
He emphasized the importance of upholding the will of the masses who voted them into office, even as they work to address internal challenges.
In conclusion, Governor Alia urged everyone to dismiss baseless rumors and focus on their shared commitment to truth, unity, and progress, which he asserted defined their collective journey.
