The Benue State Government has announced a ban on all political gatherings and meetings in the state, citing the prevailing insecurity as the primary reason for this decision.
Governor Hyacinth Alia implemented the ban to address the escalating security challenges in the state.
The ban, which includes both intra-party and inter-group meetings, is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Paul Biam, stated that the volatile security situation in Benue State necessitated this precautionary measure.
Biam expressed concern over the increasing insecurity, attributing it to the unprecedented influx of armed herdsmen into the state.
He emphasized the need to maintain peace and security, urging the state Commissioner of Police to enforce the ban on political gatherings and meetings to prevent further escalation of the security situation.
