An appeal has gone to employers of corps-members to accommodate all such corps-members posted to their establishments to enable them perform optimally in their areas of primary assignment.
Governor Theodore Orji made the appeal at the closing ceremony of the 2013 batch ‘C’ NYSC orientation course at the State Permanent Orientation Camp at Ummnna, Bende Local Covernment Area of the State.
“I implore our employers of our teeming corps-members to willingly accept these young and vibrant youths and provide them the basic facilities, such as accommodation and good welfare to enable them perform their duties optimally”, he said.
The Governor, represented by his deputy, Chief Emeka Ananaba, restated that Ministries, Departments and agencies of Government have been mandated to accept corps members posted to them and give no room for rejection as they are posted to carry out national assignment.
He assured the corps members, of his administration’s resolve to continue to provide the enabling environment for them to showcase their talents in their chosen endeavours.
He also assured the corps members of their safety in any part of the State notwithstanding the security challenges in some parts of the country and urged them to feel at home here in “God’s own State” and “positively contribute their quota to the general uplifting of our people.”
Gov. Orji further advised them to freely mix with Abians who are kindhearted people with willingness to assist and accommodate visitors but endeavour to respect the culture and traditions of the land.
Highlights of the ceremony include a display of martial art and a special silent parade by two separate groups of corps members.
