Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic death of three medical students of Abia State University, Uturu.
The incident occurred last Thursday evening at the Nunya axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway as the students were returning to Aba after attending a ceremony at the university’s main campus in Uturu.
The Public Relations Officer of the university, Chijioke Nwogu, confirmed the incident.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, Governor Otti lamented the loss of the young medical students at a time when the state government was making significant strides in revamping the education and health sectors.
Governor Otti expressed particular pain as the graduation ceremony attended by the students was the first since the accreditation for the training of doctors was restored to the College of Medicine, Abia State University, and the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba, by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, following a two-year suspension under the previous government.
He has sent senior members of the Abia State Government to convey condolences and offer support to the parents and guardians of the students involved in the accident, including the two who survived.
Governor Otti extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and sympathized with the authorities of Abia State University, Uturu, praying for comfort and healing for all affected by the tragedy.
