Biliamin Oba, Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians to reduce their expenses in response to the current economic challenges facing the country.
Oba gave this advice during the 2024 International Youth Day celebration organised by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chapter, on Tuesday in Badagry.
Speaking at the event, Oba, a former Chairman of NYCN Lagos, emphasised the need for collective action to navigate the country’s difficult economic situation.
“We need to start cutting our costs while we wait for the economy to stabilise,” Oba advised. “The cost of everything has increased—transportation, living standards—all of these have skyrocketed. We must learn to reduce our expenses and be more economical.”
Oba expressed confidence in the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu, stating that both leaders are working tirelessly to address the nation’s economic issues.
“I am certain that President Bola Tinubu has a great plan for this country, and Governor Sanwo-Olu is working round the clock to ensure Lagos remains the best place for everyone,” he said.
He also commended Ashade Abdulsalam for organising the youth empowerment programme, which aimed to inspire and enrich young people within the council.
Oba encouraged youths to remain optimistic, resilient, and proactive as the country navigates its current economic challenges.
