Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has taken swift action, ordering an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding a tragic airstrike in Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area.
The military airstrike, targeting terrorists and bandits, inadvertently claimed the lives of several individuals who were celebrating the Maulud festival on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Monday, Governor Sani expressed shock over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the affected families. He stated, “Search and rescue operations in the area are ongoing.
The State Government has dispatched top government officials to assess the situation, reach out to the families of the victims, and advise the government on immediate actions to lessen the pains of the families.”
The governor emphasized his commitment to preventing a recurrence of such a tragedy, assuring the public that the protection of citizens would remain a top priority in the ongoing fight against terrorists, bandits, and criminals.
He announced an immediate investigation into the incident to uncover the circumstances leading to the unfortunate airstrike.
Furthermore, Governor Sani directed the prompt evacuation of the injured to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for emergency medical attention, affirming that the government would bear the responsibility for their treatment and related logistics.
While urging affected communities and all residents to remain calm, the governor called for continued support for the security forces and the state government in their efforts against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in Kaduna State.
He assured ongoing consultations with security forces to prevent similar mistakes in future operations.
