Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and his Anambra State counterpart, Mr Peter Obi has stressed the need for camaraderie among Governors for the unity and development of the country.
They noted that the healthy competition among the present Governors has engendered growth rate and better dividends of democracy for the citizens.
Speaking at Government House, Asaba when he paid a thank you visit to Governor Uduaghan, Governor Obi said that the relationship between the Governors has contributed immensely to the unity of the country.
Governor Obi also disclosed that peer review mechanism among Governors promoted healthy competition which has resulted in the growth and development of the various states.
He admitted that the developmental projects in Asaba were source of great inspiration for his policies and programmes especially in Onitsha
The Anambra State Governor said that he came to thank Governor Uduaghan for his support in the past eight years, appreciating Governor Uduaghan’s developmental stride in infrastructure especially the construction of Asaba International Airport.
In his response Governor Uduaghan commended him for his contributions to the economic development of Delta State particularly his support for the Asaba International Airport.
Uduaghan noted the efforts of Governor Obi in ensuring the cordial relationship between the two states as well as thanked him for his support for President Goodluck Jonathan.
Governor Uduaghan also extolled Governor Obi for the support he has so far given to the construction of the second Niger Bridge, adding that it would help accelerate economic development in the two states.
He hinted that President Goodluck Jonathan would in the next few days lay the foundation stone of the bridge and appreciated him for recognising the cordial relationship existing between them.
