Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted several worshippers from a mosque in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The assailants stormed the mosque at dawn on Thursday while worshippers were performing the early morning Subhi prayer.
Reports indicate that about 10 people, including the Imam, were taken hostage during the attack.

Confirming the incident on Friday, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, said security agencies are working to secure the victims’ release.
“The command, in collaboration with other security agencies, is working to ensure the immediate release of all the victims,” Rufai stated.
He added that he had spoken with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the community, who confirmed the attack.
Security forces have since intensified efforts to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted worshippers.
