A man identified only as Aliu was shot and attacked with a machete by unknown gunmen while riding a motorcycle toward Idufe village in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The assailants also stole the victim’s motorcycle during the attack, which occurred around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola told the media that Aliu was on his way to Iwoye to visit his family when the attack happened.

“One Kugbukin Kolawole reported the incident to the Imeko-Afon Police Division, stating that the victim had borrowed the motorcycle from him shortly before the attack,” Odutola said.
She added, “The Divisional Police Officer of Imeko reported a case of armed robbery on January 21, 2025, at about 9:40 a.m. Unknown gunmen opened fire on one Aliu near Idufe village in Imeko.
“Kugbukin Kolawole, a resident of Idufe village, stated that Aliu, whose surname is yet to be identified, had come to his house to borrow his motorcycle, saying he was heading to Iwoye to visit his family.
Not long after, Kolawole heard gunshots, and a neighbor ran to inform him that Aliu had been attacked, soaked in blood, with machete wounds on his body, and the motorcycle was stolen by the attackers.”
Odutola disclosed that Aliu was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The motorcycle’s documents have been submitted to the police as investigations into the incident continue.
