    Gunmen Attack Tiv Settlement In Taraba, Kill Village Head, Burn 50 Houses

    Taraba state logoGunmen have attacked a Tiv settlement at Sabon-gida Zaga of Bali LGA, Taraba State, killing a village head and burning 50 houses in the process.

    The state police public relations officer, ASP Joseph Kwaji, who confirmed the development yesterday, said the gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, invaded the village at the weekend and beheaded the village head, Zaki Koti Anyima.

    He said the incident was reported to the Bali police division by the leader of Tiv in Bali, Chief David Gbaa.

    According to the police spokesman, no arrest has so far been made even as investigations are ongoing into the matter.

    Kwaji added that a detachment of police personnel has been deployed to the area to restore law and order.
