The Delta State Head of Service, Sir Paul Evuarherhe has called on civil servants in the State to rededicate themselves to duty by utilizing the knowledge acquired from the various trainings organized for them by the State Government.
Sir Evuarherhe, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Head of Service, Mr. Peter Nkemchor, made the call during the closing ceremony of the weekend’s management course for senior officers in the State civil service organized by the office of the Head of Service in collaboration with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON).
He said that it was the way civil servants apply their skills and managerial know-how in the discharge of their duties that would bring about the desired transformation and culture of excellence that we are all striving to entrench in the public service.
He added that If Government policies and programmes on capacity building do not translate into concrete benefits for the people of Delta State, then the purpose of whatever knowledge we have acquired from the various training programmes would have been completely defeated,
The Head of Service applauded Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for the support and steadfastness he has demonstrated towards ensuring that the training programme achieved its goals and said that the primary purpose of the course was to inculcate in the participants, the practical management skills and techniques required for the attainment of higher quality of service delivery to the citizenry through improved job performance.
Earlier, the ASCON Director General, Mr. Ajibade Peters who was represented by the Deputy Director of Studies, Dr. S. K Olowe, said that the participants have been equipped with new knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for improved performance on their job and urged them to transfer their learning to the work situation in order to enhance their productivity index.
