A fresh communal clash has broken out between residents of Mbaiase community in Gwer East Local Government Area and Igbinde village in Konshisha LGA of Benue State, leading to the destruction of property and several houses being set ablaze.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, revealing that the violence erupted around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday when suspected militias from Mbaiase allegedly attacked Igbinde, a village under the Mbagusa/Mbatser Council Ward in Konshisha LGA.
According to local sources cited by Makama, multiple thatched houses were set on fire and valuables destroyed during the assault.

No casualties have been confirmed as of press time.
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke, in collaboration with other security agencies, were quickly deployed to the area to prevent further escalation and restore order.
In response, stakeholders from both affected local governments — including traditional rulers and council chairmen — have commenced peace talks aimed at addressing the renewed hostilities and finding a sustainable solution to the long-standing communal tensions.
Meanwhile, security operatives have stepped up surveillance and confidence-building patrols in the communities to deter any potential reprisals and maintain calm.
