The Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that he is mentally fit to run the affairs of the state.
Sanwo-Olu confirmed this in a form given to him by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos state.
According to reports, INEC stipulates that “one of the grounds for disqualification for anyone seeking public offices specified in sections 65, 106, 131 and 177 of the 1999 Constitution is if such a person is adjudged to be a lunatic or declared to be of unsound mind.”
In the INEC Form CF001 which the Lagos APC guber candidate submitted, it is reported that he ticked ‘No’ to the question: Have you ever been adjudged a lunatic or declared to be of unsound mind?
During the build-up to the APC governorship primaries, Lagos Governor, Akinwumi Ambode told the world at a press conference on Sunday, September 30, 2018, that Sanwo-Olu is not mentally fit to be Governor.
He said “He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital. we don’t want to go too far. Our leadership should have a rethink.”
The Lagos state Governor also alleged that the APC guber candidate was arrested in US for spending fake dollars.
