San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin took to Twitter on Friday to vent about not being able to meet Drake or even get a ticket to one of three concerts that he is performing in the Bay Area this weekend.
He just wants to be successful, he tweeted, a reference to the Canadian rapper’s 2009 hit song. Drake is in town for a three-night engagement at Oracle Arena with the rap group Migos.
“The fact I can’t meet @Drake let alone get good tix to the concert in Oakland, is running me HOT,” Goodwin tweeted out on Friday afternoon.
Several of Goodwin’s followers chimed in to give him advice for getting into the concert. “Just run up to security and long jump over em? Then keep running,” wrote Twitter user @iTzKaepernick, in reference to Goodwin’s career is a Olympic long jumper.
Another Twitter user, @chedda7, suggested that Goodwin hit up E-40, one of the Bay Area’s most legendary rappers, to see whether he could pull any strings.
E-40 was featured in the 2012 music video of Drake’s “The Motto,” which features Drake rapping the lines, “I’m in the building and I’m feeling myself. Rest in peace, Mac Dre, I’m-a do it for the Bay.”
Others suggested that Goodwin hit up Steph Curry (who has gotten In-N-Out in Alameda with Drake), Kevin Durant, who is a Texas Longhorn (like Goodwin), or fellow 49er Richard Sherman, for help.
But someone had to take the opportunity to rag on the 49ers, who are 1-6 and fourth in the NFC West, in response to Goodwin’s plea.
“Hate to be that guy,” Twitter user @Michael_Ray85 said, “but you prolly gotta win [something] first.”
